Dr Bryan Fehilly Senior Occupational Health Physician

Dr Bryan Fehilly studied medicine at Glasgow University and then worked in hospitals around Glasgow. Over the years he has worked as a GP in Cambridge and New Zealand, practised in hospitals, worked as an occupational health physician in Brunei and as a medical advisor for a pharmaceutical company.  He returned to clinical practice as a GP in Walsall in 1989, before setting up his own occupational health practice in 2003.

Dr Fehilly is a Member of the Royal College of Physicians and he holds the Diploma in Occupational Medicine obtained from Birmingham University. He has practiced in occupational health and general medicine for over 30 years, he is also:

  • An appointed doctor by the HSE to undertake medicals for those working with asbestos, lead and ionising radiation.
  • Registered with UK Oil and Gas to deliver medicals to employees working offshore.
  • An approved doctor of the ORR (Office of Rail Responsibility) to carry out the full range of personal track safety medicals.
  • Qualified occupational health doctor who undertakes HAVS Tier 4 assessments.

Dr Steve Ruffles Occupational Health Physician

Dr Steve Ruffles studied Medicine at St Georges Hospital Medical School (University of London) and trained for General Practice in Exeter, Devon. Since 1986 he has worked as a Family Doctor.

Dr Ruffles is a member of The Royal College of General Practice and The Royal College of Physicians. Dr Ruffles holds the Diploma in Occupational Medicine and has practiced in this field for over 15 years.  He undertakes detailed absence management referrals, ill health retirement assessments, driver medicals, asbestos medicals and fitness for work medicals.

He has an interest in medical education and the continuing professional development of doctors. In this context he has worked as a GP Tutor, a Vocational Training Programme Director, GP and SOM Appraiser. He is also:

  • An appointed doctor by the HSE to undertake medicals for those working with asbestos.
  • An approved doctor of the ORR (Office of Rail Responsibility) and able to carry out personal track safety medicals.

Dr Jacquie Halliday Bell Occupational Health Physician

Dr Jacquie Halliday Bell is a Fellow of the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and a Member of the Society of Occupational Medicine. She combines her sessions at BHSF Newhall Medical Practice with her role as Medical Adviser for the HSE and out of hours GP work.

Dr Halliday Bell largely focuses on sickness absence medicals and executive health screening. She is also an appointed doctor by the HSE to undertake medicals for those working with asbestos, lead and ionising radiation as well as undertaking HAVS Tier 4 assessments

A highly regarded Occupational Health Physician, she is also an honorary clinical lecturer at the University of Birmingham Institute of Occupational and Environmental Medicine (IOEM). Dr Halliday Bell is the Regional Speciality Advisor to the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and has recently served as an officer on the council for the Section of Occupational Medicine at the Royal Society of Medicine in London. She is an Examiner for the Faculty of Occupational Medicine and an Appraiser for the Society of Occupational Medicine Appraisal Scheme.

Angela Weston Practice Nurse

After qualifying as a nurse, Nurse Weston began her career in Worcestershire hospitals, based in surgery and urology units.  With over 30 years experience she has developed an extensive range of clinical skills.

She moved into the field of occupational health nursing, and has been employed as a senior occupational health adviser in a number of different fields, for the police service and within the NHS for both community and acute services.  Occupational health requires a good combination of clinical skills and a sensitive, thoughtful approach to each individual consultation which Angela achieves.

Additionally as our lead travel nurse, she provides a thorough consultation. Angela offers comprehensive and current travel health advice and administers the required vaccinations for your destination and itinerary.

Tina Coles Occupational Health Nurse

With significant experience as a Research Nurse, Practice Nurse and specialist travel clinic experience, Nurse Tina Coles complements our nursing team.  She is often out at our client sites delivering a range of occupational health services including health surveillance programmes such as spirometry, audiometry, skin surveillance and phlebotomy (blood sampling).  She plays a key role in delivering our autumn flu vaccination campaign and drug and alcohol testing.

Dawn Mote Practice Manager

Dawn Mote joined BHSF Newhall Medical Practice as Practice Manager in 2006 and has 14 years experience in general practice and hospitals.  She has gained her knowledge in both the NHS and private sector and is AMSPAR trained. She is the registered manager for BHSF Newhall Medical Practice with the Care Quality Commission.

Dawn is responsible for the day to day running of the practice and account management for our larger clients.  In liaison with the partners, she deals with finance, HR, premises, health and safety, policies and procedures and patient services.

Karen Perumal Sales & Marketing Manager

Responsible for Sales & Marketing, Karen is often the first point of contact for new occupational health clients. She will listen to your requirements and provide you with a tailor made proposal to meet your needs and your budget.

Karen is responsible for new business growth of our city centre travel health clinic and developing our occupational health clients around our heartland of Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Claire Moody & Samantha Lord Practice Administration

Administration team Claire Moody and Samantha Lord play a key role in supporting the Practice Manager.  Together they ensure both individual and corporate appointments are quickly and conveniently booked for you.  They will often be your first point of contact and they ensure the practice operates smoothly and efficiently.
