Vaccinations for the Hajj or Umrah

It is essential both for your own health and in order to obtain entry to Saudi Arabia that you have the ACWY vaccination against meningococcal meningitis.

This vaccine must be given no more than three years before travel and no less than 10 days before you are planning to arrive in Saudi Arabia.

The dates for the 2011 Hajj are expected to fall between November 4th and November 9th.

Newhall Medical Practice issues certificates of vaccination which are now required by the Government of Saudi Arabia in order to obtain a visa.

We are normally able to offer same day appointments to enable you to have the certificate you need to process your visa application as soon as possible.

We hold supplies of the recommended ACWY Menveo vaccine – there is no need to wait while it is ordered.

We provide the ‘quadrivalent conjugate‘meningococcal vaccine, providing protection against four different strains of meningitis: A, C, W135 and Y. Children over two months of age and under one year will need two doses of the ACWY vaccine, given at least one month apart.

Children over one year of age and adults only require one dose of the ACWY. The routine meningitis vaccination children in the UK receive does not provide sufficient protection for travel to Mecca.

We can also provide a range of malaria medication if required, mosquito avoidance advice and general health travel guidance to help you prepare for your Hajj or Umrah.

The cost of the ACWY vaccine for Hajj is £75 per dose per person.
